Classic Pooh Collection 2009 Slim Appointment Calendar. Winnie was a real bear mascot of a Canadian Infantry Brigade from Winnipeg (Manitoba, Canada) which went to Britain in World War II. When the Brigade was posted to the battlefields of France, Winnie was taken to London Zoo on a long term loan. The bear became very popular with Christopher Robin, son of author A.A. Milne. It was his favourite animal at the zoo and soon became Christopher Robin's inspiration for calling his own teddy bear Winnie.... and this is how the Pooh stories and illustrations began!
